Gelatin Service Tank Introduction
Gelatin& Medicine Service Tank designs to hold/store gelatin solution or medicine liquid for a while before those material transfer onto softgel encapsulation machine. It is an essential device for most pharmacy factories. Especially the gelatin service tank, when solution mass in this tank, the small bubble/air will keep on breaking up during those standstill heating hours. This naturally but slow de-aeration can cut down the phenomena of softgel capsules with bubble inside.
Gelatin Service Tank Structure& Characteristics
Size: normally around 50-300Liter from lab size to mass production size; size bigger than 300L should be customized.
Discharge port: service tank to hold gelatin, solution discharged from upper port; medicine service tank discharge port is at the lower part of the tank. Such design is because gelatin is transferred by compressed air, by top discharge can reduce air generated from this process; Medicine liquid is pumped onto the soft gel machine, so the bottom lease is ok.
Material: 304 or 316L stainless steel material, good quality, pharmaceutical degree. Inside mirror polish, outside matte polish, with roughness test.
Electric control: improved electric cabinet welded right onto the tank, well protect electric components inside the cabinet when washing service tanks.
Power: 220V/ 110V, single-phase as optional, to match user local need. It’s better user provide local real voltage because some places’ current is not stable, higher or lower than criteria is quite often.
Height: we control the overall gelatin storage tank height within 1200mm for easy taking away the tank lid. It’s all about user-friended design.
The equipment is manufactured, tested, checked & accepted in accordance with <GB9684-88 Hygienic Standard of Stainless Steel Tableware Utensils >and< JB/T4735-1997 Standard of Constant Pressure Welded Steel Vessel>. It complies with GMP hygiene standards of the People’s Republic of China.

Instruction to use gelatin service tank with vacuum helping fast de-bubble
First of all, prepare one service tank, any size is ok to get used to the proper operation.
1# Gelatin solution is welled melted inside gelatin melting tank;
2# Gelatin service tank connected to gelatin melting tank, ready to transfer gelatin solution whether by gravity force or compressed air.
3# Vacuum this gelatin service tank to a certain vacuum degree as we instructed, not too much or not too little; it is tricky.
4# Keep the vacuum degree by controlling a manual ball valve on tank lid; while transfer gelatin solution from melting tank to the gelatin storage tank to needed quantity. Then disconnect service tank and gelatin melting tank;
5# Close all valves and nozzles on the gelatin service tank and put it still. Check the service tank in 30minutes to see gelatin solution status.
Note: During the standstill process, no need to vacuum the service tank again. The principle is to use the first time vacuum degree to help de-bubble. During the standstill process, there is the de-bubble process and there is water steam, so the vacuum degree will gradually disappear. This is normal.

Why do we need to improve this?
Because there is steam inside the gelatin service tank as gelatin solution is hot when filled into the tank(about 60℃). After tank put for a while, the steam rises up touching the cold stainless steel lid and becomes condensate water. The water will fall into below gelatin solution under gravity force thus diluting gelatin solution density. So by using the conventional gelatin tank, there is always a certain amount of gelatin wasted inside the service tank.
To meet some softgel manufacturers’ requirements, we upgraded our tanks. We modified the tank lid to have a heating system and insulation protection. A special mold for such lid to installing many parts within the limited thin space and not influence other functions. Make sure the tank lid temperature is higher than the inside gelatin temperature so that when the steam even touches the lid will not become water. There is a heating element, temperature sensor, and control for such lid design.

♣Pressure gauge: the gelatin tank can hold certain pressure, the pressure gauge is to show inside tank pressure for safety reason;
♣Safety valve: we set our safety valve at a value of 0.08mpa; For the purpose that when outside pressuring too much air into the tank, the safety valve will release tank pressure automatically as the second layer of protection. It is good for the tank itself and also safer for the operator.
♣Two ball valves on the lid to control the compressed air in and out of the tank;
♣Pinch wheel: our special made pinch wheels are of 304 SUS material; full welding at the bolts, very strong to hold tank tight;
♣Silica seal: the tank mouth is two pieces of big flanges, where very airtight sealing to make the tank a closed environment. We use the food degree silica seal to do this.
♣sight glass: to help to check gelatin solution inside the tank.
